The Lotus Flower is the substantive metaphor in my Buddhist practice as it stands for the journey from our path to enlightenment. The Lotus begins life in the muddiest of environs: at the bottoms of a pond. There are many obstacles encountered as the Lotus struggles towards the Light. When it burst trough through the surface of the pond, opening and shedding the past it blooms and seed at the same time: symbolizing cause and effect. It is breathtaking, pristine, Enlightened. It is the story of the struggles of birth, aging, sickness and death as inevitable. The lessons we learn in one life, after a well needed rest, we return as a new beginning.
