One way to help our planet is to plant meadows in your yard with plants native to your area. You can plant a meadow in a pot too, imagine. This will attract a variety of important insects that are endangered and necessary pollinators. Bees of all kinds are a good example, especially the honey bee. I have a friend down south that chose to take their lawn out and replace it with a beautiful garden of native plants. The day they put everything into the ground, my friend told me, that the number of insects and birds that came to live there that day was astonishing. Over time it became a miniature paradise. It became alive and very interesting too. This so much better than a lifeless lawn, a vast desert of it's own kind, and one that uses huge amount of water. One could say that my friends brought some peace to this small plot of ground. Do you know that that wonderful smell of freshly mowed lawn is the grass being stressed out?
